"Better to be safe than sorry" so said Victoria Atkins MP following her visit to Louth Police & Fire station last Friday.
“I came to meet the Police, Fire, Army and Environment Agency personnel who were preparing for the floods predicted last weekend” she commented “ and, whilst thankfully, a disaster did not happen, it was very reassuring for my constituents to see the active support of the Emergency Response Team.”
Victoria also visited the Emergency Rescue Centre at the Meridian Centre to thank the LIVES responders, the Red Cross volunteers and the Leisure Centre staff, all of whom were ready to help those local residents forced to leave their homes.
“Flooding is always a potential problem along our coastline” said the MP “which is why I instigated the Flood Forum last year to discuss such an eventuality as we might have experienced last weekend.”
“It is always better to be safe than sorry!”
In her second Video Diary, Victoria has extended her sincere thanks to all those involved in keeping Lincolnshire coastal communities safe during the recent severe weather. This included the Burma & Quebec Company of the 2nd Battalion The Yorkshire Regiment, Chief Constable Neil Rhodes and Lincolnshire Police, Louth Fire Station, the Meridian Leisure Centre, LIVES and the British Red Cross.
