Victoria Atkins, Conservative Candidate for Louth & Horncastle, had a busy weekend in the constituency, supporting civic and leisure events, and listening to local residents and business people.
On Saturday morning, Victoria met councillors to discuss a range of local issues, including wind farms and agriculture.
This was followed with a visit to the Willoughby village fete. Victoria was impressed by the efforts of the village's gardening society to involve residents. Victoria said, "Village fetes are a quintessential part of the English summer and add to a village's community spirit. It is thanks to volunteers that such events happen in villages across the county."
Victoria, her husband, Paul, and son, Monty, then went to the Bathing Beauties festivities in Sutton-on-Sea. Victoria discussed the local economy with business people selling their goods in the beach huts, many of whom are self-employed or running their businesses from home. Victoria said, "I have always been self-employed. I understand how tough it can be working for yourself or running a small business. I want to help small businesses flourish locally. I am listening to local businesses to understand what they would like from their next MP."
Saturday was topped off with the fireworks in Mablethorpe. Victoria and hundreds of others shrugged off the drizzle to enjoy a great display.
On Sunday, Victoria was pleased to attend the Civic Service at St. Mary's Church in North Somercotes for East Lindsey District Council. Victoria met councillors representing all parts of the constituency. She said, "Today's service allowed us to thank councillors in East Lindsey for their hard work. I look forward to working with them in the coming months."
