Victoria Atkins MP welcomes the news that the Louth Navigation Trust will receive £5454 from the Co-op Community Fund.
The canal corridor is an example of one of the most significant developments of the Industrial Revolution, with the Louth Navigation canal corridor being the first commissioned design for a locked artificial waterway in England.
The Louth Navigation Trust work tirelessly to enhance the Louth Navigation canal corridor. The Trust achieves this by running sustainable heritage programmes of canal and building restoration, alongside the implementation of educational recreational, environmental and economic projects which benefit its community.
Victoria said,
“Like the Louth Navigation Trust I would like the Louth Canal to be restored for the benefit of local residents and visitors alike. I hope this award will help the volunteers of the Trust with their hard work.”
