Victoria joined colleagues at the launch of the Older People Spotlight month, supported by the Jo Cox Commission on Loneliness.
A range of charitable organisations who came together at the event and Victoria spoke to them about the practical steps that can be taken to tackle loneliness amongst the older population in Louth & Horncastle. Those attending included Age UK, Alzheimer’s Society, British Red Cross, Campaign to End Loneliness, Eden Project Communities, Gransnet, Independent Age, Royal Voluntary Service and The Silver Line.
Victoria said,
“Loneliness is a silent issue affecting many older people. Everyone can play a part in tackling loneliness and this can be as simple as starting a conversation with those around us.
Louth & Horncastle proudly sits in the top 10 for the proportion of its population over the age of 65. It is therefore especially important that we give all our older people someone to talk to so that they can enjoy later life.”
