Your local councillors at East Lindsey District Council make crucial decisions about the priorities and services in our local area. From making sure our waste is collected, funding is properly allocated to community groups or projects, and deciding how much council tax we pay. That’s why it is so important that you are able to vote this year.
To make sure you’re ready ahead of this important election, I wanted to share a few important dates for your diary.
Monday 17th April is the deadline to make sure that you are registered to vote. If you are voting for the first time or have moved, registering only takes a few minutes. You can do this here: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
If you want to vote by post, applications to do this need to be received by ELDC by 5pm on Tuesday, April 18th. This is also the deadline for new postal proxy applications and for changes to existing postal or proxy votes. Find out more here: https://www.e-lindsey.gov.uk/howtoregister
Polling Day for this year's local elections, is Thursday 4th May. If you are voting in person at a polling station, you will need to bring ID. This could be your passport, driving licence or older person’s bus pass. A full list of accepted ID documents is available here: https://www.gov.uk/how-to-vote/photo-id-youll-need
If you do not have photo ID, you can apply for a Voter Authority Certificate. To receive a Voter Authority Certificate that you will be able to use to vote in the 4 May 2023 elections, your application must be received by ELDC before 5pm on Tuesday 25 April 2023. You can start the application process for a Voter Authority Certificate by following this link: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
