Around 26,570 pensioners in the Louth & Horncastle constituency will now lose up to £300 in Winter Fuel Payment after Labour MPs voted to scrap the scheme in the House of Commons on 10 September.
In total, 347 Labour MPs voted to cut the payments, despite warnings that pensioners would be forced to choose between heating and eating this winter.
Today the Conservatives have forced Labour to face Parliament and debate their decision to remove Winter Fuel Payments from the majority of pensioners.
The Labour government have themselves confirmed that this will impact an estimated 26,570 pensioners within the Louth & Horncastle constituency.
Labour have voted to go ahead with this cruel decision for which no impact assessment has been conducted.
Their choice will have vast ramifications for millions of households and our health service. It will mean vulnerable pensioners face the decision between heating or eating. This is wrong and Labour must u-turn.
I would urge anyone who may be eligible for Pension Credit to apply so that their Winter Fuel Payment is protected. Please get in touch with my office for more information or if you need help with applying.
