It is fantastic news that the government has announced £3m for councils with Internal Drainage Boards (IDBs).
IDBs provide a vital service in rural communities, helping protect people and properties from flooding. I have worked with Lincolnshire MPs, the Leader of East Lindsey District Council, Cllr Craig Leyland, local Conservative Councillors and our IDBs to press for this extra funding.
I also welcome the commitment by the Secretary of State for the Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities, the Rt Hon Michael Gove MP, to work with the sector and Department for Environment, Agriculture and Rural Affairs to implement a long-term solution.
