Earlier this year Victoria Atkins MP announced a competition in honour of International Women’s Day for a young female student from Louth & Horncastle to shadow her in the House of Commons for the day.
She is delighted to announce that from the many excellent applications not one, but two winners, were selected.
The lucky winners were Jessica Sherwood and Ellie Jones both of Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School Horncastle.
The two young ladies will be treated to an impressive program of events throughout the day – including a visit to Number 10 Downing Street.
Victoria said,
“I asked young women across Louth & Horncastle to submit their ideas on how to interest young women in politics in a competition for International Women’s Day. I was delighted to read all the excellent applications.
Ellie and Jessica both wrote thoughtful responses, which stood out due to their innovative suggestions to peak interest in politics through greater use of social media and adaptations to our national curriculum. I am really looking forward to discussing these ideas with them further when they join me in Westminster on Tuesday 8th March.
The interest shown by local schools in this visit means that, I will be organising for groups of students from each school in my constituency to join me in Westminster over the course of the year.”
