Victoria Atkins MP raised in the House of Commons the ongoing difficulties farmers in Louth & Horncastle are experiencing with mistakes made by the Rural Payments Agency (RPA).
The Rural Payments Agency is responsible for delivering European Union Common Agricultural Policy payments to farmers in England through the Basic Payment Scheme. In 2015, the Basic Payment Scheme replaced the Single Payment Scheme.
Victoria Atkins asked the Minister how he can ensure that problems with land maps do no reoccur. Minister of State for Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, George Eustice MP, acknowledged the problem and agreed to meet Victoria to discuss any specific cases that are outstanding.
Commenting outside the Chamber Victoria said,
“Our farmers feed the country and I was extremely concerned to hear that they are suffering due to mistakes made by the RPA.
I look forward to meeting with the Minister to sort out this concerning issue wrongly affecting our hard working farmers.
I would ask that anyone affected by this issue to contact me on [email protected] so I can raise your issue in my meeting with the Minister.”
