I hosted an Older People’s Fair in Mablethorpe on Friday at The Dunes Complex.
Local sporting activities to join included walking football with Magna Vitae, dance classes with Do-Dance and various activity group with the U3A. There were new hobbies to take up, such as bridge with the Alford Bridge Club, crochet and knitting with Sutton on Sea Crafty Knitters, volunteering opportunities at the National Trust’s Gunby Hall and amateur dramatics.
Personal, digital and financial safety advice was provided by Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner Stuart Tweedale, the Pensions Advisory Service and Barclays. Information on healthcare will be available from Lindsey Blind Society, Diabetes UK and Marisco Patient Group.
There were organisations offering a range of different support services, including Age UK Lindsey, Community Lincs, the Citizens Advice Bureau and Wellbeing Lincs.
I was particularly pleased that Lloyds Bank came to the coast to explain to residents their decision to close branches in Alford and Mablethorpe and to help older customers continue to access banking services.
My constituency has so much to offer older people to help stay healthy, enjoy activities and keep safe - there’s something for everyone!
