Victoria Atkins, Member of Parliament for Louth and Horncastlle and Minister for Crime, Safeguarding and Vulnerability, recently visited a newly-opened North London safehouse for victims of modern slavery.
A tree was planted to mark the opening of the facility, and was accompanied by Desmond Tutu's poignant words: ''Hope is being able to see that there is light despite all of the darkness.''
Victoria commented, ''It was a privilege to open the safe house and to speak to staff about the tireless work that they do.''
''The Government is committed to ending this horrendous crime, and I thank all the staff at the safe house for their tremendous work in supporting the victims affected.''
